Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities stated on late Wednesday. The fighter was involved in a car accident near Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Healing from Light Wounds
The boxer had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the loss of his two trusted companions.”
His release from the hospital comes as the sports world shared sympathy for the fighter in the wake of the devastating accident.
