Palestinian-American Adolescent Liberated Following Nine Months in Israel's Imprisonment

An Palestinian-American youth after completing 270 days in Israel's custody absent formal charges gained freedom.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim had just turned 15 during his detention this past winter in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, where he was visiting from his Florida home accused of stone-throwing toward Israeli settlers, which he previously denied.

The US state department said it welcomed Mohammed's liberation.

Mohammed, now 16, was taken to hospital for treatment immediately after release, according to close relatives.

Family described him as pale, underweight, and is suffering from conditions developed during imprisonment.

Through an official statement, the youth's uncle spoke of the family's "overwhelming sense of relief".

Family member Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" over the last nine months.

"Right now, we're concentrating on ensuring Mohammed receives prompt healthcare he needs after being subjected to mistreatment by authorities and cruel circumstances for months."

The state department stated they would maintain to provide consular support for the Ibrahim family.

{"The Trump Administration gives utmost importance to the protection and welfare of US citizens"," it added.

A group of American legislators had signed a letter to US authorities and the administration, requesting additional efforts to secure his release.

Mr Ibrahim, with four children managing a frozen treats business from Florida, had earlier stated Mohammed acknowledged allegations about rock throwing because the soldiers beat him.

The father hadn't visited or spoken to Mohammed following the detention, receiving updates exclusively what had happened to him via legal paperwork.

He stayed without charge within Ofer penitentiary on the West Bank.
