Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is unclear and the United States has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations linked to the the regime, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with notable success and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.

It said debris landed in a residential area in the capital, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
