Edwards and O'Neil both have past links with Wolves

Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the initial candidates under consideration to replace the former manager as manager of Wolves.

The previous coach was sacked on Sunday after the squad's ten-game without a victory start to the Premier League campaign.

And both candidates - both of who have previous links to the team - are part of the names to be evaluated by the Wolves ownership.

The manager is currently at another club, which would pose a potential obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.

However the ex- Luton Town manager - who made more than 100 of appearances for the club during his time as a player - is said to be a leading contender for the position.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the club board as they start the process of hiring a new manager.

Gary O'Neil is additionally appearing as a unexpected contender, even though he would be a shock appointment considering he was released by the club in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham United player is currently unemployed which means the club would not need to pay any compensation.
