Canada's Blue Jays Secure World Series Matchup Against Los Angeles Dodgers
George Springer previously helped the Houston Astros securing the championship in the 2017 season.
Toronto's Blue Jays reached their initial World Series after 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the AL Championship Series.
Down by two runs, Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh, guiding the sole Canadian team in MLB to a 4-3 win in the series. Awaiting them are the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the current crown, in the upcoming Fall Classic.
"I'm thrilled for this squad, Toronto, Canada," Springer stated, a star of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "This is such an incredible feeling."
George Springer has now connected for 23 total post-season home runs, placing him third in history after Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"It's hard to imagine anyone else in the world that I want up in that spot besides him with his October magic," said Schneider.
Seattle's team, who had led the series 2-0 and 3-2, are still the only MLB franchise never to appear in a championship series.
Wilson stated "certainly that it's going to sting" following his side's defeat at Rogers Centre, but commended their efforts throughout the year.
"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we finished on the wrong side of the series," he continued.
Toronto secured the championship on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and are set to host the Dodgers in game one on the upcoming Friday.
